About the Role: 

The Product Analyst will be a driver of a data-informed culture at PitchBook. They will derive meaningful takeaways from data and drive better Product outcomes. They will help product managers refine their questions into measurable indicators and be the one to turn heaps of ambiguous data into insights about our customers. The Product Analytics team oversees usage data collection, creates insightful performance indicators and delivers actionable analysis across the organization to drive better product & data outcomes. The team works closely with Product Managers, Engineering and Business Intelligence and oversees our analytical tools stack. The team regularly reports on Product KPIs to leadership and is a driver of strategic analysis across the organization.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret user activity in our suite of internal and external products upon request to guide business decisions
  • Work with Product Management to translate business questions and desired user behaviors into detailed logging specifications and hypotheses
  • Produce and maintain Product KPI dashboards in Tableau that inform product teams if their work is hitting the mark
  • Develop a deep understanding of all 3rd party analytics tools the Product department uses (such as Tableau, Mixpanel and FullStory) and organize and lead trainings to promote self-serve
  • Present regular usage data updates to the Product department as well as all stakeholders on the executive leadership team

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience using SQL to analyze data
  • Experience visualizing data and creating metric dashboards/reports in Tableau or similar
  • Experience answering strategic questions around customer behavior for product teams
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills allowing you to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders alike, including senior management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of a scripting language (Python, etc.) and the ability to work with non-structured data
  • Knowledge of SaaS business model along with key business KPIs and product success measures
  • Familiarity with user analytics software (Mixpanel, FullStory)
