Role Description

This team is building a product for Creators that is an enabler beyond our core productivity offerings around sync and share. This team is experimenting with a new problem space and opportunity that Dropbox is well-positioned to tackle. The nature of the work on this team is 0→1, requires agility and immense customer obsession. This is a close-knit team and a high ownership environment.

As one of two designers on this team, you get to define what the bounds of the problem space and the solution space for Dropbox are. You get to carve out a vision for where this product goes, as well as the iterative path for us to get there while we learn and measure along the way.

Responsibilities

  • Driving discovery and planning with a PM partner on immediate roadmaps and long term product strategy
  • Synthesizing insights and solution iterations with regular contact with customers throughout
  • Running your own design evaluations with support from research
  • Facilitating team discussions and brainstorms to drive alignment and decisions
  • Executing thorough designs accounting for relevant edge cases and technical constraints
  • Last but not the least, sweating the product we’re shipping and not just what we design

Requirements

  • 7+ years of UX-related work experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects from discovery through shipping/iteration.
  • Demonstrated experience with collaborating closely with cross-functional partners — researchers, product managers and engineers to ship product.
  • Deep interest in understanding customers — their lives, workflows, problems and where products and solutions might fit in
  • Excellent interaction design and visual craft skills including some experience with prototyping mobile experiences.
  • Clear, compelling presentation and communication style
  • Comfortable with travel, potentially quarterly post-COVID.

Additional Perks + Benefits

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
