Apptentive is looking for a Product Designer who is passionate about building products and features that will delight our customers. This is a unique role where you will not only love our customers but help them love their customers.

About This Role

As a Product Designer, you will have to wear a lot of different hats and navigate a variety of unique situations. You’ll need to gather information from many different stakeholders and lead teams to drive product roadmaps. We want to see you bring ideas to life and drive it to completion. In essence, we want you to dream, validate/iterate, and build it. Customer feedback and building trust are essential to being successful, as your work will make or break customer experiences.

Responsibilities (what you’ll do):

  • Define product specifications, and be able to translate those requirements into wireframes
  • Iterate and deliver “Lo-fi”/“Hi-fi” comps, while collecting and incorporating feedback from stakeholders into these designs
  • Write user stories that succinctly capture customer needs and pain points
  • Work with various stakeholders to ensure smooth releases
  • Communicate product strategies with leadership regularly to mesh your features with our company’s vision

Qualifications (what you have):

  • 5 years in software development in any role with products that have been released to the market
  • Deep desire for product development holistically
  • A track record of caring about customers
  • The ability to negotiate and view other points of view
  • Broad understanding of end-to-end design including interaction design, visual design, writing, and front-end development.
  • A history of outstanding design work and a portfolio of strong examples with stories of how your end-to-end design approach and role led to meaningful improvements.
  • Experience writing a product spec and/or user stories
  • Experience successfully shipping product or features while working with a software engineering team
  • Experience conducting usability studies and perform user research, owning and influencing change from the results.
  • Experience in an agile development environment
  • Strong experience with industry-standard design tools and software like Sketch, Omnigraffle, Axure RP, Marvel, Origami or Principle. 
  • BA / BFA in Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction Design Engineering, Visual Communications, or 4+ years equivalent experience in a product design role.

Bonus (what we’d love):

  • Understanding of Scrum or any other paradigms, and are excited to talk about it
  • Variety of different leadership opportunities and experience outside your career, either from extracurricular activities or passion in 
  • Dabble in design and/or programming, either recreationally or professionally
  • Worked in a startup environment before, and enjoy wearing multiple hats
