Skilljar is seeking a talented and passionate Product Designer (or UX/UI Designer) to join our fast-growing team. As our first design hire, you will have a tremendous impact on our business and lead the design direction for our customer-facing course platform, content management tools, and analytics dashboard. You will work side-by-side with engineers, product managers, and executives to create amazing products that delight our customers.

We’re looking for someone with a successful track record designing business software products in an agile development environment. In addition, you will be joining a small but rapidly growing team of engineers, product managers, and marketing where your decisions will have direct impact into the product.

You must be very comfortable wearing multiple hats in a highly ambiguous environment, managing complex customer requirements, and working cross-functionally with various teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven, strategic, and high-judgment designer to get in at the ground floor of a rapidly accelerating startup that has already delighted dozens of Fortune 1000 and mid-market clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design interactive UX solutions from whiteboard sessions to wireframes to prototype mockups to finished high-resolution visual designs.
  • Creatively solve complex interaction and visual design problems.
  • Using user centered design, help to define features and contribute to the overall direction of the product.
  • Produce high-quality designs in a quick, iterative fashion.
  • Build rapid prototypes for user testing and conduct user research with our customers.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to ensure a smooth handoff and implementation.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of web UX experience and mobile responsive design, ideally for a B2B SaaS product.
  • Degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree.
  • Comfortable working in Sketch, Adobe CS, or other various design tools.
  • Fluent with best practices for user-centered design, UX principles and techniques, information architecture, and user interface web patterns.
  • Highly confident creating artifacts throughout the design lifecycle, from product requirements to sketches to wireframes to high fidelity mockups and prototypes to polished final design.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with product managers and developers in an agile environment.
  • Familiarity with modern web development frameworks and libraries.
  • Experience with front-end programming and a strong understanding of software design patterns and best practices
  • Ability to conduct usability studies and perform user research.
  • Strong time management skills with the aptitude to work independently on a project start to finish.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions.
  • Highly self-directed and comfortable in a small, unstructured environment with ambiguous and rapidly changing requirements.
  • Startup experience is a major plus.
  • US work authorization and criminal background check are required.
