Varsity Tutors is looking for a talented and driven Product Manager to lead an admissions consulting division of our expanding business. Varsity Tutors provides admissions consulting for both college and graduate school application processes, pairing clients with expert counselors to assist in school selection, application strategy, essay writing, interviewing, and other facets of the application. The admissions industry is growing rapidly, earning an estimated $2 billion in 2018. Under its premium Veritas Prep brand name, Varsity Tutors is committed to offering elite, comprehensive admissions guidance under the most ethical of standards: consultants provide expert guidance for students but the finished product is always 100% the student’s own work. With a reputable brand name in the admissions space since 2002, Veritas Prep Admissions Consulting looks to expand and scale the business to serve more students – and this endeavor requires fervent attention to product design and development.

This Product Manager will be responsible for driving the overall growth of the admissions counseling business. This includes generating growth strategies for new customers as well as finding and engaging new contracted admissions counselors. The position will also own and work cross functionally to deliver all elements of product design, including competitive positioning, product and marketing tests, user research, and product reputation/effectiveness. The position also contributes to fulfillment of service and training of sales and customer service representatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall Admissions Counseling business for Veritas Prep including admissions for business schools and undergraduate institutions. 
  • Develop and own the overall brand and brand strategy for the division.
  • Manage day to day activities for the Admissions Consulting business including building and managing to the entire P&L for the division.
  • Develop and partner with marketing support to deliver overall marketing initiatives for the Veritas Prep Admissions Consulting business.
  • Curate website content and ensure proper positioning within the overall Admissions Consulting industry.
  • Identify and recruit new consultants and ensure proper supply for growing the elite Admissions Consulting division. Obtain Myers Briggs assessment from Admissions Consultants and provide related information for purposes of opportunity generation and matching.
  • Assist in matching and connecting customers and Admissions Consultants based upon criteria provided by customers and Admissions Consultants respectively.
  • Respond to inquiries from consultants regarding opportunities and engagements, as necessary
  • Develop and deliver to forecasts for leads and sales goals. Partner with sales leadership and the sales organization to develop collateral, scripting, and other sales content.

Qualifications:

  • An MBA or similar degree is preferred; experience working in college or graduate school admissions is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years working in or with higher level education admissions.
  • Analytical, data-driven mindset with strong self motivation. 
  • Strong understanding and passion for college and graduate school admissions.
  • Experience creating, repackaging, testing, and analyzing products.
  • Comfortable working independently, managing ambiguity, and advocating for shared resources (e.g. marketing, technology) using data.
  • Strong written and spoken capabilities.
  • Shows the ability to engage and recruit admissions counselors. 
  • Takes initiative, designs tests, and learns from both successes and failures.
