Position Summary

This role is responsible for delivering a clean, fast, accessible, and consistent web experience on nginx.com and related properties, to clearly and transparently communicate the NGINX voice and intent, internally and externally. This role works closely with a development team and vendors, as well as cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Sales to represent the NGINX brand by managing web infrastructure, enabling the management of educational content, technical documentation, product launches, company news, and driving marketable leads and sales.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Responsible for delivering a clean, fast, accessible, and consistent web experience to represent the NGINX brand.
    • Establish and build web systems according to the best practices of robust, scalable, and compliant systems through strong operational excellence principles, architectural decisions, processes, and tools.
    • Manage a web development team that builds and maintains web properties for NGINX’s discovery of products and services.
    • Manage on-call rotations, system stability measures, and monitoring agents to ensure uptime and availability of NGINX web properties.
  • Responsible for enabling and managing educational content, technical documents, product launches, and company news.
    • Define goals and timelines, and execute all NGINX web initiatives to ensure current and potential customer engagement.
    • Gather requirements and work with internal stakeholders across NGINX to balance and accommodate company-wide priorities.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline and improve development process.
    • Work with internal teams and vendors to ensure web properties are optimized for search engines.  
  • Responsible for driving marketable leads and sales.
    • Build, maintain, and optimize web properties as digital marketing channels to deliver MQLs
    • Triage Jira/Azure DevOps tickets and build enhancements to provide necessary features for Content Management System to meet the increasing demands.
  • Document the feature/enhancement vision and scope for NGINX.com 
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists, business analysis, competitive product analysis, task, and workflow analysis. 
  • Write requirements using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely. 
  • Decompose business requirements into User Stories, functional and non-functional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those must base their work on the requirements, including architecture, development, and testing. 
  • Define and document assumptions, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements. Represent requirements using alternative views, such as diagrams, prototypes, or scenarios, where appropriate. 
  • Manage the ongoing life cycle responsibilities for features/enhancements. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize backlogs. 
  • Propose new product features and updates - evaluate new functionality that should be applied to NGINX.com

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technical
    • Understanding of web infrastructure, DNS, distributed systems, HTTP/2
    • Working knowledge of nginx, linux, Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare
    • Working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
    • Deep knowledge of WordPress and advanced features including ACF, AMP, Cache-Control
    • Understanding of technical and content SEO for web and mobile
    • Ability to make technical decisions that is align with the best practices of web infrastructure and building scalable systems
  • Project management
    • Knowledge of technical management, leading development team in agile/scrum process
    • Ability to estimate work velocity and capacity and design sprint workflow in Jira
    • Ability to write technical specifications, documentation, project scope, and timeline
  • Creative
    • Working knowledge of wireframing tools including Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite
    • Ability to write creative briefs, PowerPoint Presentations
    • Understanding of web and responsive design principles

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years of experience running day-to-day agile/scrum process for a development team
  • Excellent communication skills on both technical and product terms
  • Strong emphasis on quality software and robust testing
  • Experience building and releasing products

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. 
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Duties require the ability to travel up to 50% via automobile and airplane, and may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). 
  • Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
