Role Description

Dropbox is on a mission to help redefine the way people work in this new distributed work environment. Dropbox Capture is one of the most ambitious new product launches in the company’s history and a critical pillar of its product strategy.

Capture is an all-in-one visual communication tool that helps team members share their work and ideas asynchronously. Try it out on dropbox.com/capture.

While Capture is still in beta, it’s already growing fast and has many customers who use it to communicate better and quicker with teammates. Here is what Steve Lewis, IT Manager at Lehigh University, said about Capture: “It has made communication more efficient and more on-point. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth ten thousand. If I send someone an email about an issue we’re having with a website, for example, if I can include a video, I can much more quickly make my point and therefore operate at a higher level of efficiency.”

You will join as the second Product Manager on Capture, and founding member of a newly established growth team focused on driving new user acquisition. The ideal candidate is obsessed with customers and ownership while thriving zero-to-one environments with a high level of ambiguity and autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Drive growth in user adoption and engagement using data-driven product experiments
  • Work to develop a product growth model and continue to refine it through experimentation and research
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ship new, impactful changes, including preparing necessary technical specifications, coordinating development activity, and tracking the progress of in-flight projects
  • Recognize gaps and drive projects with minimal guidance and focus on making a significant business impact
  • Work closely with product marketing, customer success, and users to deeply understand, document, analyze, and synthesize user needs into product priorities, roadmap plans, and detailed specifications
  • Process, review and interpret large bodies of qualitative and quantitative data to develop the right product experiences for our users to find value quickly
  • Build cross-functional relationships and manage complex projects across multiple teams

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years working in new products or startups
  • Proven track record of driving user growth experimentation
  • 0 → 1 or founder mindset with a bias toward maximum ownership, action, and impact in the shortest amount of time
  • Ability to analyze and use data to inform decisions
  • Leadership experience and/or demonstrated potential to coordinate and motivate a small team
  • Experience developing a vision and roadmap for an area of a product; or similarly, planning for a cross-functional area with many workstreams toward a focused goal
  • Motivation and excitement about building new product experiences that create measurable business value

Additional Perks + Benefits

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
