We believe travel enriches our lives and connects us to each other. Our Expedia Flights team is dedicated to building experiences that help travelers like you go places and makes our world more connected. We are a global team with representation in the United States, Mexico, Australia and India. Our Flights Shopping Platform is one of the largest in the world serving over 150 million queries a day and powering some of the strongest brands in the industry like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, Wotif, Hotwire and ebookers. Expedia disrupted the airline industry with its flight shopping and booking technology 20 years ago. We always want to “be the place travelers choose to explore and book flights for a trip” and are looking for talent to join us and build technology and experiences that power these.

We are looking for a passionate Sr Technical Product Manager to join our Flights Site Engineering (SRE) teams.  We are responsible for building the best flights shopping and booking experiences for our customers.  We want you to bring your skills to our agile environment as we move from revolutionizing the web to redefining the mobile travel experience.  From the back-end supply and database functions, to new user-interfaces for our more than 140 branded travel sites, there is no shortage of technical innovation as we push the frontiers of technology.

What's in it for you? Beyond travel perks and other competitive benefits, you can walk away from work each day knowing you truly made an impact. You can create a new feature that goes on the live site. You can build programs that streamline our backend search and supply processes. You can help localize content and systems globally. And you can do this all while working alongside smart, passionate techies who love travel to their core.

You are not only skilled on the technical front but also an excellent communicator with a strong bias for action.  You live and breathe the DevOps mindset as you will drive the life cycle of platform features from high level concept to design to operational delivery and beyond.  You have a strong understanding of resiliency patterns, designing enterprise solutions at scale, operationalizing applications and cloud infrastructure with measurable KPIs, and delivering automated solutions to create a highly available ecosystem to power the Flights platform.  Over time you will grow into a key technical resource capable of driving cross-team design and architecture reviews across our full engineering team.

What you will do:

  • You will go broad and deep into the platform architecture to work with the SRE and product engineering teams on delivering scalable, resilient, and highly available solutions

  • You will identify opportunities to continuously harden our platform and cloud infrastructures at scale

  • You will work with the teams to develop and maintain the platform product roadmap backed by clear ROI and value proposition data

  • You will collaborate with partner teams to identify future needs and prioritize development and delivery

  • You will develop a disciplined approach to improving team abilities and efficiency

  • You will identify the metrics that matter and use them to drive team progress

  • You will actively identify and resolve potential roadblocks with a hands-on approach

Who you are:

  • 6+ years of technical product management experience with agile/scrum/modern agile development practices

  • Experience building strong relationships across different functions in the team and across parts of the organization

  • Ability to handle large, complex problems in a rapidly changing environment and rallying the teams to solve it; have a keen sense of team dynamics and how to continually tune and improve the team's process to keep things running optimally

  • Strong analytical abilities, using tools and data to evaluate team success, process changes as well as the customer impact of feature delivery

  • Experience with working and evaluating business, web service, and infrastructure monitoring tools

  • Experience designing resilient, scalable, and highly available systems at scale

  • Prior engineering experience, building web applications at scale with core software development fundamentals
