Job Description

Position Summary:

The Sr Technical Product Manager (Sr. TPM) is a technical lead resource within the Product Management organization responsible for technical solution analysis and design, and technical documentation. They are also responsible for the analysis of competitor’s products, sales, and strategy. Sr TPMs are encouraged to have excellent product knowledge, technical sales ability, and an expert level of networking engineering knowledge (including design and troubleshooting). The Sr TPM will identify and lead technical projects in response to business and customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be a lead contributor in the overall product strategy of NGINX and F5 as well as in the solutions delivered to customers.

  • Develop reference architectures and functional solutions for customers acting as a trusted advisor.

  • Provide product and market analysis to Product Management and Product Development.

  • Effectively communicate product strategy to senior leadership and customers.

  • Identify and address business or technical gaps in F5 products during their life cycle.

  • Be a subject matter expert on competitors and their products.

  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation abilities required - both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate others about sophisticated technology.

  • Solid understanding on modern application delivery including: HTTP, TLS, Application Routing (NGINX, F5, Apache, NLB/ALB, microservices).

  • Functional knowledge of Linux, Hypervisors, Container Schedulers (K8S, etc).

  • Ability to build simple Power Point presentations based on complex technical data.

  • Ability to work flexible hours based on an achievement driven test/product development cycle.

  • Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends), and travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 15% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Computer Science Degree or equivalent work experience recommended.

  • 12+ years meaningful work experience required: Preferably in engineering, IT, or technical sales related to network and application delivery products.

  • Extensive industry background including past experience with one or more of the following: load balancing, application delivery, application development, cloud architectures, cloud migration, microservices / k8s delivery.

  • Technical sales experience preferred.

  • Networking or security certifications preferred.
