In close partnership with the CEO and Apptio’s executive leadership team, the VP of Products will evolve and drive the vision, roadmap and go-to-market for Apptio’s Technology Business Management Flagship products. POSITION INFORMATION

The Vice President of Products, Flagship product portfolio (analytics platform with applications like Cost Transparency, Bill of IT, Business Insights etc.), will play a meaningful role as a key leader within the business, leading the evolution of our product direction, roadmap and go-to-market for Apptio’s TBM products. This role requires someone with customer empathy, a commercial orientation and unique set of skills to grow products into new market segments, identifying new opportunities and delivering market ready products.

The VP of Products will lead product management for our flagship products portfolio, covering the full product lifecycle:

• Establish and refine a multi-year product vision and strategy in partnership with engineering, field, customer success and company leadership
• Engage deeply with customers to develop and validate new applications
• Collaborate with marketing to develop & evolve our go-to-market strategy, product positioning, pricing and packaging
• Partner with sales to effectively land Apptio’s value proposition with our field and channel

This role is customer and market facing and you will interact confidently with C-Suite executives and have strong public speaking skills. This person will naturally be very customer focused and will lead by example, spending quality time with customers and partners to represent their needs back into the product organization. The ideal candidate has a growth mindset and continuously learn from customer interactions to evolve their perspective.

The position reports to the Executive VP of Products & Engineering. You will be a member of the Apptio Operational Leadership team and will be a key participant in setting and evolving Apptio’s company level strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS 

• Lead a team of experienced Product Management professionals; recruit and develop extraordinary product management talent
• Define long term product vision aligned with company strategy
• Build and drive a product roadmap
• Partner with Marketing on product positioning, packaging and messaging for Apptio’s products
• Drive GTM plans aligned with business plan
• Contribute as key member of Apptio’s leadership helping to set overall vision
• Champion the voice of the customer; establish one-to-many customer and partner forums for product feedback; personally, engage deeply with customers, partners and the field
• Act as spokesperson for the company and product strategy in public events, with analysts and press, our investors and board and with customers

• You are an extraordinary leader, with deep product management and/or product marketing experience

• You enjoy defining and then refining compelling product messaging and positioning, as you fine tune your approach via extensive analytics
• You have a strong customer and commercial focus; experience in utilizing competitive intelligence, market research, customer forums and community feedback
• You love public speaking and are a good storyteller
• You take pride in the quality of what you and your team produce and you pay attention to detail yet don’t like to micro-manage
• You are comfortable with experimenting, failing and learning
• You are direct, have a low ego, and are able to express your opinions and not be afraid to defend them
• Graduate degree a plus, preferably MS in CS and/or an MBA
• Able to work in the Seattle area (Bellevue, WA). Able to travel regularly (including international)
