Associate Director Privacy Program Management
Job Summary
The Associate Director Privacy Program Management is a key participant in Chewy’s privacy program, which brings to life our privacy commitments, new features and functionality that support changing privacy laws and consumer expectations. In this role, you will support the program that drives the privacy strategy and handles the privacy platform, policy implementation and experience across the business working with Legal, Security, and Product. The AD Privacy Program Management will manage the privacy preference process. They will do so by building partnerships with team members across the organization and applying program and project management skills. Participates in defining the privacy strategy, roadmap, and policies. Coordinates across other functional areas to secure buy-in to deliver the privacy strategy and the defined end-to-end customer experience. Reviews end to end privacy experience, with the goal of identifying opportunities and risks.
Key Accountabilities:
- Partner with the Privacy legal counsel and the Data Governance team to lead the development, evolution and implementation of our privacy strategy, roadmap, policies and practices.
- Partner with Privacy legal counsel to understand key regulatory requirements, document privacy related requirements and collaborate with product and technology teams to deliver solutions.
- Partner with product and technology teams to understand key features that may have privacy implications and report back to legal counsel to help develop compliance plans and business processes.
- Project manages key privacy and data governance related projects across the organization by partnering with key product and technology teams.
- Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments in consultation with the legal counsel.
- Help design customer focused privacy solutions by collaborating with product and technology teams.
- Ensure responses to internal and audit related requests surrounding the privacy program.
- Establish sound Privacy documentation and metrics to demonstrate compliance, leveraging technology, where possible.
- Support any inquiries from the privacy authorities and investigations that have privacy issues.
- Support any privacy diligence requirements for acquisitions and third-party vendors and suppliers, as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
- Experienced privacy and data governance manager with demonstrated experience with customer data to help us provide Chewy customers with an easy, transparent way to comply with various regulations governing data privacy.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing and leading privacy and data governance related products and projects with exposure to privacy regulations in US, Canada and Europe.
- Technical background in e-commerce or technology environments working across multiple teams in multiple geographies is required to be successful in this role with focus on B2C customer scenarios.
- At least 7 years of experience in leading, managing projects in e-commerce or technology environments, working in cross-functional teams to deliver products/projects on-time. At least 2-3 years of privacy and customer data related experience.
- Excellent written, communications, time management and collaboration skills with a drive and passion for customer focused solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, IT or similar background required. Experience with privacy tools such as OneTrust and data related technologies is highly desired.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $124,500-$245,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
