Code.org® is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups. Our vision is that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science as part of their core K-12 education. The leading provider of K-12 computer science curriculum in the largest school districts in the United States, Code.org also created the annual Hour of Code campaign, which has engaged more than 15% of all students in the world.


We currently have two Education Program Manager positions open: One position will focus on the K-5 computer science education program, and the second will focus on the 6-12 computer science education program.


JOB SUMMARY


At Code.org, our vision is that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science. To support that vision, our Education Programs team builds deep partnerships, professional development programs, curricula, and resources to enable schools to implement high quality, equitable K-12 computer science pathways.  


As an Education Program Manager at Code.org, your primary responsibility is the end-to-end management and execution of one of our national education programs: K-5 CS Education or 6-12 CS Education. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Program Development and Operations, other education program managers, and our internal teams to ensure all components of our programs a) Meet program milestones, b) Develop and adapt iteratively, and c) Support our long-term goal of expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by young women and students from underrepresented groups. Since our education programs involve multiple teams throughout the organization, you will also develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with our colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of programs that contribute to our long-term strategy and goals.


In this role, you will: 

• Provide programmatic leadership for the design of and thinking behind our K-5 or 6-12 education program through deep collaboration with our internal teams (e.g. curriculum, professional learning, outreach, product/engineering) to ensure collective projects and initiatives achieve organizational goals

• Build and manage detailed program plans informed by your evaluation of past and current projects to support ongoing program improvements and development

• Work with multiple teams to establish program goals and metrics, monitor progress, track data, and evaluate program health

• Develop and manage virtual and in-person events for our network of partners.

• Provide project management support for current and future grants and proposals 

• Develop and manage recruitment strategies for schools and districts to engage in and implement our programsLead and manage cross-functional working groups to ensure program activities are executed and operationalized on schedule and within budget expectations

• Work with the Director of PDOT to distribute projects to Project • Managers and Program Coordinators, providing oversight and ongoing feedback to support successful completion of projects within the program


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


As our ideal candidate, you have strong program management skills and a passion for developing K-12 education programs that can create sustainable change in education systems. You thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment with teammates who are located remotely throughout the country. You also have a passion for creating opportunities for students and value our mission to expand access to computer science in schools and increase participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups.


Additionally, you should have:


Required:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in program management

• Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with colleagues to successful completion of broad-scale programs

• Proven ability to transform the ideas of colleagues into appropriate solutions for the team

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Working knowledge of education and program evaluation methods and experience evaluating programs with an eye to ongoing improvements

• Excellent communications skills with both technical and non-technical audiences to fully understand the experiences of our students, teachers, facilitators, and regional partners resulting in significantly deeper learning and impact.

• Ability to balance multiple priorities

• Ability to manage conflict, identify and align mixed expectations, and iterate on lessons learned

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time 


Preferred:

• Proven experience leading education programs with that have substantive impact and sustained outcomes

• Experience conducting and designing ongoing program evaluation to inform planning, iterative program improvements, and implementation decisions with data

• Certification or coursework in Program or Project Management, non-profit administration, education administration, or a similar field 


WHAT IS THE INTERVIEW PROCESS LIKE?


Step 1: Informational Interview with Dave Frye, Director of Program Development and Operations to learn more about the role and share your experience (30-minutes)

Step 2: Homework (~3 hours)

Step 3: Interviews with several members of the Education Program team (~5 hours)

Step 4: Final Interview with Jackie Smalls, CPO + Meet & Greet with 2-3 members of the Code.org team (~1.5 hours)

Step 5: Reference checks 


All interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Google Meet
