Role Description

In this role, you will work closely with both the People Strategy & Operations and the cross-functional Virtual First teams to drive key business initiatives and affect change across the People team and Dropbox as a whole. You will be integral in promoting People Team cohesion and Virtual First programs across Dropbox. Ideal candidates will be passionate about building community and evolving our culture within a Virtual First environment.

We are looking for someone with project / program management expertise and the aptitude to drive rigor and critical thinking into key People-related initiatives across Dropbox. You must have the capacity to balance multiple priorities, understand change management principles to influence internal partners, identify and articulate success metrics for the programs / projects you manage, and possess excellent communication skills that can be tailored to cross-functional audiences at every level. You will work in partnership with People team functions, including: Virtual First community & culture, People team cohesion initiatives, communications, and operations & technology.

This role will be intimately involved with the strategic direction of both the People Team and the Virtual First team. You will be required to successfully develop plans, proposals, and manage key stakeholders to do the same! You will also have the opportunity to roll-up your sleeves and help the People and Virtual First teams move from strategy to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and build operational plans to execute against opportunities for key People and Virtual First initiatives including:
    • People:
      • Development opportunities (learning series, stretch projects, etc)
      • Cohesion (centralized resources, offsites, All Hands, consistent communications, social events)
      • Operational rhythms / processes (scorecards, reporting, benchmarking, budget maintenance)
    • Virtual First:
      • Program / project management for cross-functional Culture Steering Committee (with key partners across People, Design, REWS, ITS, Comms) with the goal of creating and driving an integrated culture roadmap across all of Dropbox
      • Collaborative and tactical program management of community building for a distributed workforce that is aligned to our Virtual First strategy (e.g. supporting Dropboxers building and maintaining connections, reimagining community-building in a distributed environment, etc)
  • Build strong peer-level relationships with Dropboxers across the People organization, Virtual First team, and in partnership with our internal clients

Requirements

  • 3–5 years experience in a project or program management, strategy, operations, and/or human resources role
  • Excellent project management skills with a proactive mindset
  • Excellent as a writer and communicator
  • Must be a self-starter and proactively drive projects as well as understand how to measure the success of projects
  • Practical business sense with the ability to translate between strategic business decisions and their operational implications
  • Comfort with ambiguity, uncertainty, and a rapidly evolving business landscape, with a general understanding of change management principles
  • Humble attitude with a willingness to shift from high-level strategic thinking to stepping in and helping to drive implementation alongside functional teams
  • Experience coordinating community-building events and initiatives in a distributed environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus.
