Job Description
Design program managers at ServiceNow enable the Design organization to operate as effectively as possible. They are responsible for optimizing processes, resources, and workflows to cultivate a productive and collaborative Design team. Their primary objective is to make the design organization as effective as possible by enabling designers to focus on the work.
Design program managers have a deep passion for teamwork and problem-solving. They possess strong knowledge of design practices and can effectively advocate for the needs of the design team. They balance resources, articulate standards for tools, onboard and support new hires, find employee development opportunities, and ensure the team is healthy and set up for success.
In addition, design program managers optimize processes and keep programs in sync with all stakeholders by identifying milestones, connecting similar workstreams, managing risk, streamlining communications, articulating standards, aligning schedules, and ensuring the team has the resources they need to be successful. They help manage workloads, deadlines, and project specs that allow the team to amplify their effectiveness and impact for ServiceNow.
What you’ll do in this role
- Be responsible for the design teams’ operations and program, striving to make the design organization as effective as possible by enabling designers to focus on the work and ensure the team is thriving
- Manage all operations for the team, keep all team processes running smoothly, and build a program of excellence
- Create, document, and communicate standards and processes with a focus on building strong, repeatable processes that strengthen relationships within the Design team, and with other teams across ServiceNow
- Connect interdependent workstreams, manage risk, streamline communications, and ensuring the team has the resources it needs to deliver work
- Manage a central repository of resources including tools, templates, processes, schedules, hiring and onboarding assets, and project files
- Help find and hire top talent, provide a great onboarding experience, nurture them on their growth paths, and make sure the team has the right tools for the job
- Nurture the team’s wellbeing by planning and participating in workshops for skills training, relationship building, and purposeful group activities
- Create predictable team schedules and meetings for collaboration, reviews, and critiques both internally and with cross-functional teams
- Support the implementation of the agile process across the DX team and be a voice for the team in the overall agile process implementation
- Handle the logistics and administration of external parties, such as contractors, vendors, and agencies
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience successfully managing programs and operations for a large UX or Design organization
- Solid understanding of Design and UX processes and disciplines
- Experience leading large scale and fast-moving programs across multiple teams
- Ability to problem-solve, organize, and manage a large roadmap of tasks and projects
- Proven ability working in fast paced environments with shifting priorities while managing tactile deliverables and meeting deadlines
- Experience in sharing ideas and presenting solutions to Sr. management
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Ability to maintain strong rapport with teammates, and stakeholders from cross-functional teams
- Strong eye for detail and obsessively meticulous
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent professional experience

Work Personas
Work personas are categories that are assigned to employees depending on the nature of their work. Employees will fall into one of three categories: Remote, Flexible or Required in Office.
Required in Office
A required in office work persona is defined as an employee who is contracted to work from or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office. This persona is required to work from their assigned workplace location 100% of the work week based on the business needs of their role.
Flexible
A flexible work persona is defined as an employee who is contracted to work from or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office and will work from their assigned workplace location roughly 3 days/week or less (generally around 40-60% of the work week). Flexible employees may choose to work the remaining working time from their workplace location or home. Flexible employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.
Remote
A remote work persona is defined as an employee who performs their responsibilities exclusively outside of a ServiceNow workplace and is not contracted or aligned to a ServiceNow-affiliated office, including those whose place of work (pursuant to their terms and conditions of employment) is their home. Remote employees are required to work within their state, province, region, or country of employment.
