What many people may not know is that, in addition to our popular apps, Ookla also offers its core network testing capabilities via embedded and command line solutions.

We are looking for an independent, hands-on, Product Manager to help us manage the day-to-day operations of our core network testing engine. You will be responsible for ensuring that the engine products are scoped, built, and maintained effectively. You will also be responsible for communicating and troubleshooting with clients that license the software from Ookla. Experience in agile product development, including sprint planning and scrum master functions, will be an important aspect of this position.

As a Product Manager, you will need to be exceptionally flexible and have a demonstrated ability to solve complex technical and business challenges. The ideal candidate will possess an uncanny ability to multi-task and independently prioritize their time to maximize business and customer benefit. They will be able to interact effectively across a wide range of functional roles and problem spaces, and will possess tremendous attention to detail. They will be able to work in an extremely fast paced, highly ambiguous, rapidly evolving environment. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people across multiple geographies.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Strategic Initiatives, Engineering and Product teams to ensure that improvements to the software engine products are captured and implemented
  • Manage roadmap for software engine products
  • Manage the process for collecting feedback related to product improvements
  • Manage all internal and externally-facing documentation and communication related to software engine products
  • Manage QA tasks like release validation, bug filing, bug triage, etc.
  • Manage release monitoring activities throughout each development cycle
  • Monitor feedback related to software engine products and answer occasional support concerns from users
  • Manage the backlog, sprint/release management, requirements refinement and other issues related to the product suite

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of previous software product management or program management experience
  • Experience with SDK product development
  • Experience with fixed and mobile network operations and/or consumer routers, gateways or other CPE a plus
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; technical writing experience a plus
  • Experience with Jira or other development/project management software a plus
  • Understanding of C++ (and other relevant languages) a plus
