Flexport.org is the dedicated impact team within Flexport. We help nonprofits, NGOs and mission-driven organizations deliver aid on-time to communities in need. As climate change and the pandemic increase the need for humanitarian and development aid, our supply chain technology and expertise are more important than ever before. Our products and services empower aid organizations to get the right goods to the right place as efficiently as possible, gain visibility and control over their programs and relief efforts, and collaborate with all of their partners and stakeholders during emergencies and long-term projects.

As Flexport.org’s Business Development Manager, you will build out the infrastructure for our sales team, pursue new client opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships, and develop and implement new strategies to drive growth and scale our global impact.

You Will:

  • Develop our sales infrastructure, tools and processes and help build out our expanding sales team
  • Create and implement strategic growth initiatives to diversify our clients, expand our geographical client and shipping footprint, and scale our impact
  • Build and manage a strong, diverse sales pipeline from end to end for Flexport.org to engage in aid logistics
  • Proactively consult with nonprofits, NGOs, mission-driven organizations and government agencies to understand their supply chain needs and shepherd them through the complexities of international trade
  • Manage Business Development Representatives and help lead an account management team in partnership with an Operations Manager to drive client success and social impact
  • Work cross-functionally with the rest of the Flexport.org team as well as other important internal teams (i.e. Legal, Partners, Trade Lane Management, Brand) to ensure the highest level of service possible
  • Collaborate with the Flexport.org technology team to leverage software to improve our products and scale our growth

You Should Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, and/or partnership roles
  • A background in humanitarian aid, international development, or social impact (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, business acumen and presentation skills
  • Impact-driven: obsessed with improving global aid and maximizing the impact of both Flexport.org and our clients’ programs
  • Leadership abilities to work and collaborate effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Hands-on, process-oriented, and structured thinking with strong problem-solving and project management skills
  • Deeply curious: always working to understand the larger problems in the humanitarian and development space, striving to become an expert on aid logistics
  • Next-level attention to detail: enjoy combing through metrics and operational details to identify opportunities to improve internally
  • Builder mindset: ability to set objectives and targets, define strategies, and get hands dirty while creating something new
  • A desire to join a new and fast-growing business unit - like in every startup environment, grit and a hands-on mentality are important for success, as well as flexibility and an open-mind to wearing multiple hats
