Opportunity

You will lead the new product development process from concept through commercialization, including crafting the go-to-market plan, voice of customer research, definition of customer and product requirements and value proposition, product prototype deployment, acting as first salesperson, and updating requirements based on customer feedback. In this role, you will interface closely with the CEO, CTO, R&D, and Engineering teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Craft and implement go-to-market strategy, including channel strategy
  • Lead processes to capture voice of customer, define critical product requirements with prioritized features and performance criteria, and document in business model canvasses
  • Identify and develop customer relationships to ensure timely product prototype deployments and complete customer feedback
  • Develop the customer pilot testing process to ensure successful product commercialization
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to translate technology into valuable products and services
  • Hone Modern Electrons’ pitch to first customers, strategic partners, and strategic investors, and refining our overall messaging
  • Maintain knowledge and develop quantified value propositions for target market segments
  • Assess and evaluate the competitive landscape
  • Monitor and report key product performance and customer satisfaction metrics
  • Establish strategic product marketing plan, including identifying and coordinating conference and trade-show marketing campaigns

Finally, since you will be an early employee, the responsibilities of this role may extend beyond those of traditional product management, such as business development, finance, and strategy. 


Who are you? 

You have at least 5 years of previous work experience and are skilled at working with engineering and business teams. You have experience crafting product strategies in a startup or startup-like environment. You might have a MBA. You enjoy working with customers, partners, and colleagues to uncover product requirements and new features. You have built and commercialized energy industry or hardware products (or both) before.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in product management / product development in either an energy company or a hardware company
  • Experience working directly with end-users / customers to understand user requirements and build new products via lean startup methods

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in a technology startup with less than 50 employees, and experience in the product team within an energy / cleantech hardware technology company, and demonstrated success with a significant customer/partner-facing role during the product commercialization process
