About the Role:

The Direct Data Sales Specialist will lead conversations with both existing and new clients who demonstrate interest in PitchBook's direct data solutions. This person will work not only with the Direct Data team, but also the Customer Success/Sales team for clients and prospects interested in Direct Data. The Sales Specialist role will educate prospective clients on PitchBook's datafeed and API products. The role is also focused on working with the Sales Engineering team to create datafeed and/or API solutions based on clients' needs, and then proposing those solutions to new and existing clients. An ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a drive to learn clients' workflows and match them with PitchBook solutions, and previous knowledge or a willingness to learn about data delivery via FTP and API. Finally, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working on a fast-paced, rapidly growing team and be able to meet ambitious deadlines and goals with both internal and external stakeholders.
Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • Work with Customer Success and Sales teams to conduct calls with clients/prospects interested in Direct Data solutions 
  • Schedule and conduct calls with clients and prospects to qualify interest and suitability to buy a direct data product 
  • Work with Sales Engineering team and Client to isolate scope and content of datafeed or API solution 
  • Determine best product for client (data feed or API) and propose solution to client or prospect 
  • Work collaboratively with Sales and Customer Success teams to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities for Direct Data products 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Strong communication skills with an appreciation for detail and accuracy 
  • An interest in and understanding of, or desire to learn, PitchBook's role in the capital markets ecosystem, why clients value our product, and how our product creates value for our various client types 
  • Ideally will have at least two (2) years of Sales or Customer Success experience 
  • At least one (1) year of experience with API or data feed applications, ideally selling those applications 
  • An understanding of FTP and API delivery protocols 
  • Experience managing pipelines and workflows in Salesforce 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • BA/BS degree
