IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Designer in Seattle, Washington, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for moderate to complex projects and support delivery of larger, high-complexity work with limited senior oversight. In this role, you will provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client guidance while overseeing project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You will also work within project budgets, support training and mentoring efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

• Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
• Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations, proposal generation, and contract reviews
• Create project schedules with clear milestones and deadlines
• Serve as the primary point of contact for project teams and clients
• Prepare monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting on time, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages
• Ensure designs meet owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and applicable code requirements
• Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support is provided in a timely manner
• Collaborate with design staff and coordinate project scheduling through all phases of design and construction
• Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
• Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested
• Respond to and resolve client and construction concerns, including managing change orders and obtaining appropriate approvals
• Train, mentor, and motivate staff while building, maintaining, and developing client relationships

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR
• Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
• 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
• Demonstrated leadership traits in the project management career path; strong training and mentoring skills
• Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline
• Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
• Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
• Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
• Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Seattle, WA

State of Washington Salary Range: $107,000.00-$149,000.00
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
