Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the role:

Our Pricing Platform team is responsible for building and operating the systems that decide what every Remitly customer pays, in real time, across our global corridor footprint. We bring pricing to life by serving rate decisions through high-throughput services that touch every transaction on web, mobile, and partner channels.

The team has a dual mandate: deliver pricing decisions that win on customer experience and business performance, while building the platform that lets our economists, data scientists, and pricing managers ship new models and improvements without going through engineering for every change. We tackle complex problems at the intersection of distributed systems, machine learning, and pricing economics, across a global footprint and a long tail of corridors most of the industry ignores.

Strong candidates may have experience with:

  • Python services on AWS Lambda or Cloud Run, built with FastAPI and Pydantic, that's most of the platform

  • Real-time pricing, payments, or other financially sensitive systems where accuracy, auditability, and graceful fallback are first-class requirements

  • Productionizing ML for pricing, demand, or FX, and the experimentation patterns that go with it (A/B tests, bandits, causal inference, shadow mode, kill switches)

  • RAG and LLM-based extraction over messy real-world inputs like partner contracts, emails, and spreadsheets, turning unstructured documents into structured pricing inputs

  • Large-scale data pipelines on BigQuery, plus web-scale competitive scraping (proxy rotation, anti-detection, scheduled crawls)

  • Working alongside agentic AI tooling: we expect engineers to amplify themselves with Claude Code and multi-agent workflows

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have software engineering experience

  • Are results-oriented, with a bias towards flexibility and impact

  • Interested in unique opportunities in machine learning systems and infrastructure space

  • Thrive in environments where technical excellence directly drives both business results and research breakthroughs

Representative projects across the org:

  • Designing the real-time pricing services that price every Remitly transaction across our global corridor footprint

  • Building data pipelines that turn external market signals into inputs for pricing decisions

  • Productionizing pricing models that respond to real-time market conditions on our highest-volume corridors

  • Building cost-plus pricing pipelines that scale our operations across the long tail of corridors

  • Re-architecting legacy pricing components for latency, reliability, and operational simplicity

  • Partnering with Treasury, Risk, and Compliance on shared standards for financially sensitive systems

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
