About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer I to help build next-generation web crawling and data automation systems. You’ll work with modern tools like Puppeteer, Playwright, and LLMs to extract and process data at scale. This is a hands-on role where you’ll design, build, and optimize crawling pipelines, while learning from senior engineers and contributing to real production systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain scalable web crawling and automation tools using Node.js, Python, or similar.
  • Use LLMs and browser automation (Puppeteer/Playwright) to adapt to complex, dynamic sites.
  • Develop reliable data pipelines to handle high-volume collection and processing.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD, monitoring, and automation for high availability systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues and optimize performance for crawling and data workflows.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience coding in Typescript, Java, Python, or Go.
  • Knowledge of web scraping frameworks, browser automation, and REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with AWS services and databases (SQL & NoSQL).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a growth mindset.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to LLMs/ML models for data extraction.
  • Experience with big data or distributed systems.
  • Previous work in e-commerce, retail, or digital data environments.

Why Join Us

For this role, the pay range in Seattle is $135,000 – $165,000 per year, with additional opportunities for bonuses, incentives, and team-based awards. Salaries are just one part of the total package — we also offer a comprehensive set of benefits designed to help you grow, recharge, and do your best work:

  •  Full benefits plan including medical, dental, and vision
  •  Fertility benefits & 100% paid parental leave (20 weeks for birthing mothers, 12 weeks for all other parents)
  •  401(k) with company match + company-paid life insurance
  •  20 days of PTO + 9 paid company holidays
  •  Summer Fridays with early 3pm close
  •  Stocked kitchen, fresh fruit, happy hours, and monthly catered lunches

We’re not just building technology — we’re building a place where you can learn, grow, and make an impact.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
