Disney Streaming Services is looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to join the 3rd Party Platform (3PP) team. Our team builds and maintains critical backend services responsible for supporting Disney streaming media subscriptions, including Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, and more! Through our services, users can seamlessly access Disney content when making a purchase via external parties.

Responsibilities 

  • Craft software for backend systems using Scala, Cats Effect, http4s, Play, Golang, and more, while developing software development fundamentals and design principles  

  • Work with a team of engineers building software in a collaborative development process, without being dogmatic about technology choices  

  • Participate in the full-lifecycle of software development (requirements gathering, designing, building, testing and maintenance)  

  • Take on a collaborative role on the team, contributing to design discussions, implementing critical features, and growing your technical skills through  

  • Collaborate with the team to design and build RESTful web services that make use of relational and/or NoSQL DBs  

  • Build automated testing at different levels (unit, integration, functional) and build resilient applications that handle failure gracefully 

Basic Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience 

  • 3+ years of experience delivering high-quality backend code 

  • A functional understanding of cloud service providers and their capabilities 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience using cloud service providers, preferably AWS (ECS, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, etc.)   

  • Experience with Scala or other functional languages 

  • Experience with Go 

  • Experience working with remote team members across timezones 

 

#DISNEYTECH 

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY and Seattle, WA is $123,000 - $165,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
