The Role

Role Description

Dropbox is seeking an exceptional Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team. As part of Engineering Operations, you will lead engineering-wide programs for some of the highest priority initiatives at the company. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute on clear roadmaps, drive alignment with product and company priorities, and own the end-to-end execution of your programs. The ideal candidate will be deeply technical, detail oriented, and comfortable using their influence to drive results with a sense of urgency and ownership. As a senior leader on our team, you will report directly to the Head of Engineering Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership: Drive the development, alignment and execution of various strategic engineering initiatives, defining clear roadmaps and ensuring successful delivery. Be able to manage ambitious timelines, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and lead the successful execution of complex, cross-functional engineering programs.
  • Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to foster alignment and drive collective success. 
  • Technical Excellence: Apply your deep technical expertise and domain aptitude to drive innovative solutions across various engineering programs.
  • Exceptional Communication: Expertly communicate across all levels of the organization, and be able to regularly communicate and present to executive leadership on behalf of your team.
  • Leading Through Influence: As a strong leader, you will collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners across Engineering, Product Management, Design and Marketing to successfully influence decisions and drive results. You will use your technical acumen and operational excellence to help the team achieve their ambitious OKRs, while influencing senior leaders by building strategic relationships and aligning on shared goals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent years of work experience 
  • Strong technical experience in building distributed systems, platforms and products at scale 
  • Experience managing large, cross-functional programs with expert program management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting in large groups and handling high-pressure communication with the executive team
  • Solid technical aptitude with an ability to understand technical architectures and speak to system design, reliability & scalability challenges, and design tradeoffs 
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment with ambitious priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in program management tools and software (e.g., Jira, Airtable, Asana, etc.)
  • Experience building infrastructure platforms, search systems and AI/ML products
  • Experience leading high performing technical program management teams
  • Experience leading company-wide programs to improve Engineering efficiency and execution
