Job Description:

Summary:
 

Systems Engineers are responsible for the planning, engineering, implementation, and compliance of an internal/external organization's systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software, on premise/cloud environment. Monitors and reports to the performance of systems. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within this particular field. This multi-purpose role focuses on reviewing documentation and strategy to ensure successful team engagement. They also serve as a technical liaison between stakeholder teams and management and advise on current internal or external work, working with systems hardware and software to deliver solutions to client institutions. Systems Engineers are expected to stay abreast of current and new technology as it relates to their role.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge in a variety of technologies including all varieties of Windows and Linux.
  • Responsible for SCCM Platform, including all its dependent components such as SQL.
  • Serves as an escalation point for triaging and resolving technical issues between SCOM agent and management servers.
  • Installs, configures, upgrades software and hardware.
  • May interact with vendors for support, design, incident management.
  • Participates in the planning, design, and implementation of monitoring systems.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, tests, debugs, and implements changes supporting the company or client infrastructure business processes and operations and/or product systems.
  • Analyzes, installs, modifies, and supports a variety of operating systems, databases,    and utility software.
  • May contribute to the development, testing, evaluation or design of monitoring systems or infrastructure architecture used throughout the IT solution set.
  • Develops content for and maintains technical documentation (site surveys, network diagrams, systems RUNBOOKS, knowledge base, etc.).
  • Provides clear documentation of completed projects for various stakeholders.
  • Escalates issues to appropriate staff for prompt resolution.
  • Communicates technical issues and solutions with customers in terms appropriate for audience.
  • May participate in team on-call rotation (as required).
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Professional level position in described technology. 
  • 3 to 5 years of successful, hands-on work experience in relevant technical fields. This includes monitoring solutions such as Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, Splunk, Azure Application Insights and Azure Monitor.  
  • Accredited university, college or trade school education and training in applicable technology or equivalent relevant professional and technical experience.
