The Technical Manager, Cybersecurity Engineering is a leadership role responsible for shaping and executing MARA’s information security strategy. Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security, Threat Intelligence & Investigations, this position combines strategic vision with deep technical expertise to deliver a world-class security program.

This opportunity is ideal for a highly technical cybersecurity engineer ready to step into a leadership trajectory. Initially, the Technical Manager will serve as a hands-on individual contributor, providing technical expertise, overseeing external partners supporting security operations, and directly driving key security initiatives. Over time, this role will evolve to include building and leading a team, scaling MARA’s security engineering capabilities as the company grows.

We’re seeking someone with practical, proven experience in cybersecurity engineering, especially in cloud security, DevSecOps, application security, and secure SDLC. Formal management experience isn’t required; what matters most is technical excellence, initiative, and the potential to grow into an influential security leader.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Technical Leadership & Execution

  • Help define and execute the enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Support the risk management program and ensure compliance and audit readiness
  • Drive security awareness and training initiatives across the organization 
  • Provide cybersecurity due diligence for M&A activities

Security Architecture & Engineering 

  • Act as a hands-on security engineer, driving initiatives across cloud, DevSecOps, and application security
  • Design and implement cloud security architecture and controls 
  • Implement and optimize security tools, monitoring, and vulnerability management
  • Partner with engineering teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle
  • Track and report meaningful security metrics to leadership
  • Continuously improve security tooling and monitoring capabilities

Threat Intelligence & Partnerships

  • Foster relationships with law enforcement, intelligence, and peer security communities
  • Develop threat intelligence and response capabilities 
  • Build partnerships with external industry security leaders 

Team Leadership 

  • Mentor junior engineers as the team expands; foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation
  • Establish clear performance metrics, accountability standards, and career paths
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Scale security practices and processes as MARA grows

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty effectively.   • 7–10 years of relevant cybersecurity experience, ideally within a multinational organization or government/military environment (or a combination thereof)
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in:
    1. Cloud security (architecture, controls, and monitoring)
    2. DevSecOps and automation in CI/CD environments
    3. Application security and the secure software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience working with or overseeing external security partners supporting security operations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to dive deep into complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work
  • Eagerness to grow into a leadership role, even without prior management experience
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and best practices
  • Proven success collaborating with IT, Finance, Legal, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders

Preferred but not required:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., cloud security certifications, CISSP, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2)
