About the Role: 

PitchBook's News team is looking for a copy editor with impeccable attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and a great deal of enthusiasm for news, the written word and teamwork. You will be responsible for editing, producing and performing general quality assurance on PitchBook's daily newsletter and news articles covering the private markets.

PitchBook News is the essential source of timely industry insights. Every day, we publish authoritative and engaging content that leverages our proprietary reporting and assets in data and research.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Copy edits and fact-check news articles for spelling, grammar, readability, accuracy and adherence to PitchBook style
  • Coordinate with a team of editors to produce our daily newsletter and to continue developing best practices for content production and publication
  • Enforce editing standards across multiple content types and content management systems
  • Select photographs for news articles and analyst content
  • Collaborate with the news team to produce and edit data visualizations
  • Collaborate with the copy-editing team to update, maintain, and develop PitchBook's in-house style guide
  • Support team by writing newsletter content on an as-needed basis

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years' previous professional copy-editing experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Familiarity with financial markets, terminology and content
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience working with data or data-driven content
  • Previous experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Familiarity with online content management systems
  • Familiarity with Associated Press or in-house style
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily
