Our Opportunity:

PetMD (a Chewy media property) is seeking a Senior Editor in our corporate headquarters. The Senior Editor has excellent communication skills along with 5+ years of editorial experience, including advanced SEO skills. Your daily tasks will include managing relationships and workstreams for a range of veterinary writers and working across teams to advance PetMD and Chewy business and engagement goals. Your editorial duties will include planning and executing editorial strategy, managing veterinarian writers, editing, fact-checking, performing SEO keyword research, and optimizing articles. You will also assist in fielding requests from other teams and providing them with article suggestions, information, reports, and stats.

What You'll Do:

  • Create and execute an editorial strategy for PetMD content verticals
  • Design and manage the workflow necessary to enable veterinary writers and freelance writers to produce excellent work, including providing guidance and feedback to writers on article direction and focus.
  • Manage the internal editing process, including supervising and coaching internal and freelance editors.
  • Create assignments based on SEO research to provide comprehensive coverage in your verticals.
  • Respond to internal requests for information/stats from other teams; respond to general email inquiries.
  • Publish articles in Drupal.
  • Ability to track and report on content data and make decisions depending on information
  • Support workflows of other editors as needed.

What You'll Need:

  • BA in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field or commensurate experience.
  • 5+ years of editorial experience working for a consumer-facing media outlet. Conversion rate optimization experience a plus.
  • Advanced understanding of SEO.
  • Experience working on content for optimization (including paid and sponsored content)
  • Proficiency in editing, working knowledge of AP style, and ability to follow in-house style guides.
  • Highly developed intrapersonal skills and experience working across multi-departments to achieve business goals
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • An ability to flawlessly multi-task and thrive under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, and to quickly adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a CMS.
  • Highly developed intrapersonal skills.
  • Love of pets and passion for their care and health.

Compensation & Benefits 

The salary range for this position is $71,500-$130,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
