THE OPPORTUNITY

This economist leader will work directly with our executives and senior leaders on key business initiatives within our global retail business, eCommerce, seller services, search and discovery, and operations organizations. You will apply innovation in economic thinking to market design, pricing, forecasting, program evaluation, online advertising and other areas. You will lead the build-out and design of econometric models, using our best-in-class data systems, and apply economic theory to solve complex business challenges in a hyper-growth environment.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Build cutting-edge forecasting, optimization, and machine learning models to improve Supply Chain efficiency and meet customer needs
• Conduct in-depth data analyses to drive and deliver insights to help business partners make strategic decisions
• Work directly with customers and Product Owners to understand business context and ensure models meet overall business strategy and objectives
• Collaborate with Engineering to ensure models are faithfully translated into production systems at scale
• Have a passion for “data quality” and demonstrate this commitment by producing qualitative data and coding excellence

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

• Masters/PhDs in statistics, applied math, CS, machine learning, or a quantitative field
• 2+ years of experience in data analytics/data mining/machine learning algorithms and models
• Proven knowledge applying statistical/analytical methods to solve problems using R or related technologies
• Demonstrated background analyzing big data (Hadoop, Netezza, HBase, Spark, AWS, etc.)
• Strong research and analytical mindset and attention to detail
• Ability to draw insights/conclusions from raw data and summarize and communicate results clearly and concisely
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product teams, cross-functional teams, across different business groups and C-level in the company, as well as, key internal/external stakeholders
