Job Description

Are you enthralled with topics like gender and racial pay equity, macroeconomic pay trends, and what engages employees? We are looking for an enthusiastic Manager of Data Research with a real passion for solving analytical problems, speaking about compensation topics, and leading research efforts and resources to be an integral member of our Data Analytics team. While data is our lifeblood, making compensation more fair, modern and transparent is at the heart of what we do and we want you to join us if you share this passion.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team primarily responsible for data research in support of our PR and marketing efforts.
  • You will drive research efforts supporting both internal and external clients.
  • You will communicate with press, conference attendees, customers and consumers about diverse compensation topics.
  • You will field incoming research requests; scope, prioritize, assign and review analytical projects of team members.
  • You will work closely with sales and marketing teams and media partners to address their research needs.
  • You will select and analyze data sub-sets from the PayScale database of over 60 million profiles, using our real-time data analysis system.
  • You will find the story behind the numbers and communicate it both effectively and in an engaging manner.
  • You will develop analytical and statistical approaches to answer business questions, examine data validity and report on interesting research topics.
  • You will establish measures, metrics, visualizations and tools to evaluate research methods.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • You have proven experience managing analytical staff members, including directing their work, scoping deliverables and efficiently running projects to ground.
  • You have a proven track record of applying statistical knowledge to data-focused questions.
  • You are able to operationalize broad research directives to specific survey questions and statistical methods.
  • You are excited by and have experience with public speaking.
  • You can explain and present statistical concepts and research projects to diverse audiences, and also have great writing and editing skills.
  • You have demonstrated experience with a variety of analytical tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python, SQL, etc.).
  • You are well-organized, pay attention to details, and have good time-management skills.
  • Although not required, if you have experience in data visualizations (e.g., Tableau, D3, etc.), project management, and/or SEO, that's a plus.

The Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years of people management experience.
  • At least a master’s degree with significant course work in a quantitative field, such as economics, statistics, econometrics, or mathematics. We also welcome applicants from other social sciences (e.g., sociology, anthropology, etc.) with strong quantitative backgrounds.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
