We are the Weather and Finance Services team under WebXT team. We are responsible for building E2E Finance and Weather web services for Bing, Windows, Office and other integration points surfaced to billions of users. Our service is built on state of art of machine learning, recommendation system, visualization, and user experience technologies.

Responsibilities

 

We are looking for an extremely talented, highly motivated and productive Senior Data/Applied Scientist with expertise in the inter-disciplinary areas of atmospheric science, data science, machine learning, data mining and large-scale distributed computation. You will:  

 

  • Work with state-of-the-art weather datasets focusing on data provenance, quality, traceability and error propagation for high quality and unified weather data solution at scale.  
  • Design and implement robust metrics for insights on the health, quality, and user experiences to drive weather products directions. 
  • Collaborate across research, engineering, and product teams to shape and ship innovative weather product features. 
  • Keep on track of cutting-edge trends in areas of machine learning and deep learning applications in weather or environmental feature related products

Qualifications

 

Required: 

  • Master/PhD in Atmospheric Science or closely related scientific or quantitative discipline (e.g. meteorology, computer science, statistics, or physics) 
  • 5+ years of experience in the applied areas of atmospheric science through data driven models. 
  • 3+ years of development/coding experience required using C#/Java/Python/C++

Preferred: 

  • 2+ years of industrial experience developing customer facing products in weather or other related domain.  
  • Strong experiences on a deep learning framework like PyTorch or TensorFlow.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills, can research, develop and implement novel solutions, with the agility to work around imperfect data. 
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated, can work independently as well as deliver results through collaboration.
