Carta is hiring experienced engineers at the Senior, Staff, Senior Staff, and Principal levels in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle, and New York City to build out the backend that powers our core data products and services.

As a data product engineer at Carta, you’ll work across our codebase to streamline our existing applications, optimize our data model, expand our service layer, and build new data-driven product features. You’ll play a foundational role on Carta’s fast-growing Data & Machine Learning team, working on some of the world’s most important financial products and valuable data sets.

Candidates should have strong technical skills, be excited by driving incremental improvements in large pre-existing codebases, and enjoy working closely with stakeholders across engineering, product, and business.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years industry experience with modern web applications, DBMS, and ORMs (Django, Rails, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Neo4j)
• Deep expertise with modern object oriented and functional programming languages (Python, Java, Javascript, etc.) as well as SQL
• An in-depth understanding of schema design, data-modeling, and database scalability
• Some practical experience with probability, statistical modeling, or machine learning
• An appreciation for unit and integration testing
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree a plus) in Computer Science or a closely-related field, or equivalent work experience
• A collaborative attitude and a helpful personality
