The Customer Solutions Analytics & Insights (CSAI) team enables and accelerates business insights while fostering a data-informed culture across the Customer Solutions division. We are focused on enabling self-service analytics for business users while providing analytics and insights for cross-Solutions strategic initiatives and being the source of truth for official organizational performance measures. We strive to drive innovation, focus on work with highest business impact, and be curious to understand the questions behind the business need. The Data Science and Engineering team works closely with CASI analysts and program managers to deliver analytics solutions that meet the needs of the business.

What you’ll be doing…
As the Sr. Manager, Customer Solutions Data Science and Engineering, you’ll lead the development and enhancement of an innovative data environment by leveraging industry best practices and cutting edge approaches. You’ll collaborate with our Enterprise Data Platform and Analytics team to build out solutions and with our Analytics business partners to anticipate data needs and proactively develop data solutions to address the toughest, highest impact business problems. You will be responsible for data pipelines that provide source data for organizational performance assessment and advanced analytics, data models owned by the CSAI team, and development and operationalization of advanced analytics solutions including machine learning and recommendations engines based on predictive analytics. This role leads a team of data scientists and data engineers that builds, operates, and maintains the technical solutions to meet the business needs for analytics and insights. This role is equal parts software engineering management (being a coach and mentor to the team), software engineering (reviewing code underlying the system, able to write code when needed), and project management (ensuring the team is executing effectively on the roadmap). Success will be measured by the overall performance of the team of data scientists and engineers in delivering technical solutions that build and maintain the data ecosystem needed to answer business questions and track progress toward organizational goals. 

Some of the things you’ll be doing will include…

• Leadership and management of CSAI Data Scientists and Data Engineers, a small but growing team of 4 to 6, including resource management, hiring, mentorship, coaching, and performance management. 

• Architect, build and maintain scalable automated data pipelines ground up. Be an expert of stitching and calibrating data across various data sources.

• Develop data set processes for data modeling, mining and production.

• Work with Tableau’s enterprise data platform team to understand and validate instrumentation and data flow

• Integrate new data management, data science and machine learning technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures

• Work with internal customers to understand their needs and author and define implementation plans and functional specifications that solve those needs.

• A technical background that includes modern programming languages, especially Python

• Lead code reviews and related processes.

• Own the Solutions data model and schemas.

• Help define the roadmap for Solutions data integrations and data sources.

Who you are… 

• Leader. 3+ years of experience in a managerial role at a fast-paced tech company or consulting. You have strong communication skills, lead with empathy, and take initiative. You know how to engage and lead remote engineering teams and stakeholders. 

• Technically Savvy. 8+ years experience designing, implementing and maintaining relational / data warehousing environments (custom or structured ETL), with expert SQL and Python proficiency. Experience with developing robust and tested Python applications to support the data warehouse. History of designing, building and launching extremely efficient & reliable data pipelines to move data (both large and small amounts) throughout a Data Warehouse. Experience with Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow, Tableau and Mulesoft ideal.

• Analytical. Strong analytical problem solving skills. 

• Educated. BS degree in computer science, data science or related field, or equivalent experience.
