Your role and impact

The data science team applies machine learning to improve the efficiency and usability of our software for medical professionals. Our work is most impactful when we have exceptional quality in both research and engineering.

As a software engineer, you will develop internal web services to provide machine learning capabilities for our product. You will also collaborate with data scientists in refining our research code, infrastructure and processes to accelerate progress in our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Product development
    • Maintain high availability, improve scalability and reduce cross-team defects for our web services
    • Design and implement internal machine-learning APIs
  • Collaborate on data sourcing projects, such as annotation, crowdsourcing, external APIs and internal databases
  • Acceleration and throughput 
    • Make coding more efficient through testing and other automation processes 
    • Demonstrate best practices through design and code reviews
    • Mentor junior software engineers and researchers

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Python with 3+ years of production development experience
  • 4+ years experience in software development with machine learning, data science, data engineering or scientific computing in a team environment
  • 2+ years experience with production web services
  • 2+ years experience with DevOps, MLOps, infrastructure as code or similar
  • 1+ years experience with AWS; for example, API gateway, ECR, lambda, Sagemaker, IAM
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and solve a diverse range of problems, including but not limited to: web services, DevOps, database design, machine learning, web scraping, crowdsourcing, web front-end development
  • Ability to collaborate independently with the UX team, PMs and doctors, as needed
