The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Associate Propulsion Flight Test Engineer to join our Propulsion Analysis Flight Test team in Seattle, WA. These engineers will perform developmental and certification testing of commercial airplanes and military derivatives. The team supports testing related to Engine Controls, Operability, Performance, Installations, Drainage, Cooling, Thermal Design as well as aircraft Fuel Systems, NGS and APU Operation and installation.
The team operates primarily out of Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington with some testing in Everett and Renton. There is occasional testing at various domestic and international sites for 2-4 week periods.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating across a broad spectrum of individuals and fields
  • Developing plans for upcoming testing
  • Providing engineering definition and authorization for airplane configuration changes
  • Architecting, designing, maintaining or operating onboard test instrumentation and specialized systems
  • Conducting ground and flight testing onboard commercial aircraft
  • Evaluating test results and working to resolve any issues encountered


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience working with propulsion systems


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with one or more of the following Propulsion related areas: Engine Controls, Operability, Performance, Installations, Drainage, Cooling, Thermal Design or aircraft Fuel Systems, NGS or APU Operation
  • Experience using effective communication tools (writing, collaborating, presenting, etc)
  • Experience as a test engineer
  • Experience as an aviator: completion of ground school or private pilot license


Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification.
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range: $80,750 - $109,250
