Backend Software Engineer - IoT / Cloud

Pivotal’s Holographic Beamforming Antenna system is a customizable and very flexible product solution that can interface with a wide variety of external products and as such, the Backend Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing part of the software optimizing the configuration and performance of these antennas (Intelligent Beam Management System or IBMS). This would include developing the framework for handling the antennas as part of an IoT network and apply intelligent methods (e.g. machine learning) to leverage this new technology.
This position will be responsible for developing the framework in the Cloud (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP or similar), based on:
•Use of serverless functions
•Ensure secure interfaces between the devices (antennas), the hosting cloud and the devices used for management.
•Support demonstrations of the software to potential clients
The IBMS Software Engineer position will work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, working closely with the other part of the business, such as the embedded software team and the RF R&D.
This position reports to the Director of IBMS.
•Develop the handling of antennas as intelligent things of the IoT network, in a cloud (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP or equivalent)
•Translates the Reference Software Architecture into a product
•Design, develop, code, test and debug the software product
•Maintain and Improve the deployed releases
•Support the field trials through remote control and possible on-site presence
•Analyze and estimate the development efforts for customer requests
•Understand the Business Requirements and Constraints in a fast-paced developing environment
•Uses the latest development in software solutions
•Drive the software development from the platform implementation, managed services, and algorithm implementation
•BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience
•Experience with development in Public Clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP)
•Experience developing event-driven microservice architectures
•Experience designing and implementing scalable and secure REST APIs
•Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
•Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
•Excellent communication and written skills
•This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
•Experience in handling IoT networks
•Experience working in production environments with public cloud or on-prem deployments
•Experience with containers (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) and serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure •Functions, OpenWhisk)
•Knowledge of implementing Machine Learning Algorithm
•Experience in development for the wireless telecommunication industry is a plus
•Knowledge of wireless telecommunication networks, especially the 4G and 5G standard is a plus
