As a Software Engineer Lead, you will drive the development of production applications and tools for Cloudreach customers, including but not limited to the modernization of existing applications. The Software Engineer Lead exemplifies technical expertise and best practice in application development and plays a key role in the technical decision-making process that will run from design to delivery of a software development product.

How will you spend your time at Cloudreach?

  • Primary responsibility for leading the design and delivery of projects from the perspective of a subject matter expert.
  • Leverage technical knowledge to select the appropriate tools and technologies and their best use according to customer product requirements.
  • Review business requirements identified by the engagement manager and communicated via the customer product backlog and participate in the initial definition and clarification of features and estimates within the Scrum process. Ensure deviations from requirements are clearly documented and agreed with the project manager prior to completion.
  • Take responsibility for the technical quality of the features delivered across the team, including documentation, testing strategies, and code.
  • Remain up-to-date on emerging technologies and architecture and propose ways to use them in current and upcoming projects.
  • Leverage technical knowledge to cut scope while maintaining or achieving the overall goals of the product.
  • Leverage technical knowledge to improve the quality and efficiency of product applications and tools.
  • Create and drive internal projects such as tooling, blogs, and/or documentation.
  • Mentor team members to improve software development and delivery skills. Also serves as a mentor for other Cloudreach staff in their career transitions towards software development.
  • Ensure team members are motivated and receiving the necessary mentoring and training to be a successful part of current and future software development projects.
  • Schedule periodic check-in meetings with team members and report to the team leader on their progress and overall satisfaction.

What do we look for?

  • Development experience with at least one popular programming language such as Node.js/Javascript, Java, Ruby, Python, Rust, Go, or PHP.
  • Experience using existing libraries, frameworks, and RESTful APIs to create complex applications.
  • Experience using code management and revision services such as Github and Bitbucket
  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Ability to drive a feature or bug fix from discovery through to a stable deployment to production.
  • Strong communication skills for documenting workflows, tools, or complex areas of a codebase. Confident presenting to internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to lead decision-making on project and provide expert technical advice to team members and customers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and multi-task efficiently.
  • Confidence and ability to take responsibility for the technical output and smooth handover of a project.
  • Participates and seen as a subject matter expert in the development community (speaker at events, meetup organizer, blogging, or contributor to open-source software projects).
