Pivotal is seeking an experienced player/coach, developer/manager to support and lead fast-paced projects while working closely with a small group of scientists, engineers and business leaders in a start-up environment. The candidate will be responsible for leading and manage application development for embedded software including identifying requirements, designing, developing and deploying solutions.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to think creatively and to operate within a flexible, fast-paced program dedicated to advancing the state of the art Holographic Beamforming Antenna systems. Candidate will work in our Systems Engineering team, dealing with Linux BSP, drivers, embedded firmware development This position reports to the Director of Product Engineering.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· Lead a small team of developers through an agile iterative scrum process and participate in developing applications for embedded software

· Understand the full software and hardware breakdown of a product that is under development and ensure that developers work as a cohesive team with a common goal

· Responsible for multiple product development initiates that run in parallel

· Ensure the delivery of high quality software by using proven architecture techniques, design review processes, and proper oversight of personnel

· Develop version controlled software running on embedded Linux with real time extensions

· Participate and contribute to software architecture for a variety of components

· Maintain or enhance current embedded Linux code and scripts

· Implement prototype software on prototype hardware with production intent

· Interact with internal and external customers as needed

· Interact with product development, program management, other multi-discipline engineers and business leaders on deliverables and status of projects

 

Required Qualifications:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in EE, CE, CS or related degree (advanced degree preferred) with multiple years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer, Firmware Engineer, Development Manager or related title

· Experienced with leading a group through an entire product development cycle that includes conceptualization, architecture, design, development, testing, deployment and customer support

· Linux userspace application development experience (multi-threading, IPC experience, priority-based scheduling, run-to-completion, kernel-based OS concepts, client-server architectures)

· Strong proficiency with C/C++, working knowledge with assembly/Perl/Python/Java/JavaScript a plus

· Strong proficiency with ARM-based hardware platforms and associated BSP development

· Knowledge of makefile structures, build processes, software release processes, versioning control, defect tracking tools, the software life cycle, etc.

· Understands opensource software licensing (BSD, GPL, GPLv2, LGPL)

· Experience with Object Oriented SW design, client server architectures

· Experience with network protocols, security protocols

· Must be a nice person

· This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Desirable Expertise:

 

· Advanced degree in EE or related

· Security experience with bootrom, authentication/encryption, hardware accelerators

· RTOS or Linux with real time extensions experience

· Experience with network, wireless software electronics products, consumer electronics

· Experience with cloud based IoT platforms
