What You Will Be Doing:
As a Senior Software Engineer at Leafly, you will work in one of our cross-functional teams where product owners, designers, and engineers work side-by-side toward shared goals. You will also collaborate regularly with engineers on other teams and with our independent Technical Platform Leads. You will face complex and interesting challenges as you deliver key strategic initiatives that drive Leafly forward. You will break new ground in a new industry, and your work will impact millions of our users.

We aim for each team to have the right mix of full stack, web, api, and native app developers, so that together they are equipped to solve whatever problems come their way. We look to each person to bring their expertise and passion to the table, as well as the ability to roll up their sleeves and help where it’s needed.
Our Advertising team is growing and monetizing the world’s leading cannabis content provider. We are focused on providing the most relevant content to our users and measurable returns for our advertising partners. We are looking for experienced engineers that are ready to hit the ground running in this space.
Responsibilities:

  • Work together with product, data/analytics, and UX to identify problems - then design, plan, and deliver solutions.
  • Design, build, test, and maintain new features, potentially across the entire Leafly product suite (consumer website, content platform, APIs, administrative portals, native Android & iOS apps)
  • Lead by example in delivering high-quality solutions that scale and adhere to SDLC and quality best practices: design & code reviews, prototyping, multi-level testing.
  • Continually improve our processes by volunteering new approaches to: developer productivity, product quality, and team efficiency.
  • Mentor other developers and foster a collaborative environment of shared growth & learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of developing software in a professional team setting using Agile methodologies
  • Ability to think on your feet and quickly adapt to changes in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to embrace, learn, and apply unknown or new technologies to new or existing problems.
  • Expert understanding of object oriented design principles, exposure to functional programming practices, and experience applying them to large-scale solutions
  • Expert in your domain, and comfortable working at all layers: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web services, APIs, SQL & NoSQL storage, Testing, Infrastructure
  • Experience with latest web technologies, tools, and practices: React, Next.js, ExpressJS, webpack, Jest, responsive design
  • Experience with more than one server-side technology (e.g. ruby, python, elixir)
  • Experience developing & supporting high-scale and high-performance web applications in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
  • Results oriented and pragmatic, comfortable making tradeoffs that prioritize our users
  • Self-starter and collaborative, comfortable working independently as well as pairing or swarming with your team
  • Organized, detail oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading an agile team of engineers and/or Open Source project contributions are a plus
  • Experience integrating home grown technology to perform optimally with the following/similar content and advertising tools is a strong plus: Google DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP), JW Player, Brightcove, Salesforce
