HARDWARE FAILURE ANALYSIS ENGINEER, AVIONICS (STARLINK)

We are looking for a Hardware Failure Analysis Engineer to improve production quality of avionics for our groundbreaking constellation of Starlink satellites. This engineer would work on a small team and would be responsible for solving systemic production issues of avionics, running root cause of failures from end to end, and working to drive process changes for continually improving product quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive higher production yield and improve delivered avionics hardware quality
  • Front line avionics engineering support for production
  • Perform debugging of failed avionics PCBAs and determine root cause of failures
  • Work with suppliers to implement corrective actions to improve yield, quality, and reliability
  • Document failure modes and use data to continually improve quality
  • Partner with test engineering team to improve yield and test coverage

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineer or computer engineering
  • Experience working with digital or mixed-signal designs (internships and school projects included)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency with programming and automation/scripting languages (Python, C++, SQL, Matlab)
  • Experience with automated production test methods such as flying probes or bed of nails
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition and SPICE
  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environment within the consumer electronics, mobile handset, medical device, aerospace, marine or automotive industries
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and soldering equipment
  • Experience with PCBA manufacturing processes and assembly

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work long hours and weekends as needed

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
