As PitchBook's Head of Technology, you will have the opportunity to own the strategic vision and the tactical execution of the company's technology road map. By inspiring and leading a team of over 200 experienced engineers to grow our technical stack and working alongside our Head of Product, you will help execute on all aspects of PitchBook's product offerings. Primary Job Responsibilities:
Business and Strategy

• Own PitchBook's strategic and tactical technology vision
• Communicate PitchBook's technology strategy to the whole company
• Represent PitchBook as a technology expert at company events

Leadership

• Inspire and lead a 200+ engineering team in Seattle and Eastern Europe
• Grow the team and build its next level of leaders
• Support and grow a culture of trust that promotes distributed decision-making
• Work collaboratively and in partnership with the Head of Product to ensure efficient, high-quality product releases

Team Development

• Inspire the team by communicating a clear vision, mission and strategy
• Hire and retain smart and motivated people
• Own the professional development of the engineering team

Architecture and Technology

• Own and manage PitchBook's technical stack
• Balance the right technologies for the right business needs
• Evaluate build vs. buy opportunities

Communication

• Clearly and consistently communicate the technical mission and vision of the company to both onshore and offshore engineering teams
• Know your audience, whether it be a C-Level executive, a back-end senior architect or a junior developer
• Connect and work with remote teams
• Promote the integration and collaboration of onshore and offshore teams
• Travel to meet with team members in other office locations quarterly

Process and Delivery

• Drive the software product development process
• Provide teams with blueprint and architecture recommendations
• Own high-level estimates of engineering efforts based on specification documents
• Own on-time and on-budget delivery of the technical road map

Performance and Security

• Emphasize SLAs, such as client up-time, load times and throughput
• Evangelize the "lightning fast" requirement of all PitchBook products
• Ensure the right level of security and data protection for all of PitchBook's products

Resources and Budget

• Own the entire engineering organization's budget
• Consistently monitor and benchmark the team against market rates by position and role
• Properly balance resources by roles, including ratios of back-end to front-end developers
• Continue growing the engineering team and retain existing talent

Skills and Qualifications:

• More than 15 years of experience working with cross functional software, data and technical teams
• Experience managing large onshore and offshore teams (100+)
• Track record of successfully delivering against a road map
• Competitive spirit that values high-quality result
• Expert in modern technology stacks across web server, data pipeline, micro-services, cloud resources and a variety of storage frameworks
• Strong project management skills related to task prioritization and organization of ideas
• Exceptional written, verbal and visual communication skills
• High-level understanding of various programming languages, including Java and Python
• Knowledgeable about JIRA, Asana, GitLab and other project management and software version-control tools
• Self-motivated, professional and positive approach
• Experience working with offshore teams in Ukraine a plus
• Experience working at a SaaS company is also a plus

Working Conditions:
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
