    What you’ll be doing…

    As a Performance Engineer you will play a key role in our product’s success, you will collaborate with members of engineering, product and customer success teams, you will optimize the architecture, storage, algorithms, and deployment of Tableau workloads. You will start with open ended problems and deep dive into the service to root cause and fix the problem. You will play an instrumental role in driving product roadmaps to deliver performance and cost-effective infrastructure and software systems. In this role, you will contribute knowledge in areas including the design of experiments, data analysis and visualization, end-to-end performance analysis and debugging for single-node systems and distributed systems, and system design for performance {Insert position summary here}Some of the things you’ll be doing include …

    • Participate in product design and lead product performance evaluations

    • Achieve a deep understanding of our product architecture, usage patterns, and real world deployment scenarios

    • Design and conduct experiments to evaluate system changes with respect to performance.

    • Deep dive into performance anomalies with the intent of discovering performance characteristics of our applications, find bottlenecks, and work with development teams on optimizations.

    • Develop automated performance and scalability evaluation methodologies that accurately reflect and stress test the various real world customer use cases

    • Define, design, and implement benchmarks to generate metrics which provide relevant system characteristics

    • Educate engineers to be more mindful of scalable software patterns and code optimizations {Insert primary responsibilities (Essential Functions)} 

     
    Who you are… 

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

    • 4 years of professional software development experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree.

    • Experience in performance debugging of single-node systems and experience with design, analysis, and performance tools.

    • Experience programming in Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, Kotlin, Dart, or Go.

    Preferred Skills and Experience...

     

    ● Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

    ● Experience analyzing and tuning operating systems, compilers, networking, IO subsystems, or accelerators.

    ● Experience debugging performance of multi-node (distributed) systems.

    ● Knowledge of experimental and statistical methods and tools for performance.

    ● Skilled in the art and science of modeling of a system under load, identifying the correct benchmarks to represent it, and measuring the results

    ● Demonstrated ability to identify root causes of performance bottlenecks
