About the Team:

VIZIO is seeking an energetic QA Engineer Lead in our Seattle location who will play a key role in elevating the quality of our SmartTV user experience. Our award-winning SmartCast system is used by millions of people every day. We work with dozens of app developers and have a database of millions of movies, shows, and programs. We have top-notch software engineers, but with this much data, occasionally there are errors. That's where you come in! We're looking for detail-oriented testers to use our SmartTV system and alert us of critical bugs and errors before actual users are affected. You will be working closely with our Seattle-based engineering and QA teams to execute test passes and report issues through our bug tracking system. As a member of our fast-paced group, you will be part of an organization which is responsible for powering the SmartTV experience across our entire VIZIO lineup.

About You:

  • 5-10 years experience in testing consumer-facing software products.
  • 2-3 years experience providing technical leadership to other QA testers.
  • Experience in project management and detailed understanding of testing methodology
  • Agility to adapt to changing requirements while maintaining and executing against a detailed test plan.
  • Working knowledge of test management software such as TestRail, Jira, Confluence.
  • Experience working with HTTP tools such as Postman, Charles, Fiddler to capture, inspect, modify, and playback HTTP requests.
  • Experience with running automated tests through automation software such as Selenium.
  • Ability to document and troubleshoot errors with precise steps to allow others to reproduce the issue on their devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and patience to track down difficult issues.
  • Possessing an analytical mind, critical-thinking skills, and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meticulously follow detailed steps.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different divisions and maintain positive relationships with others.
  • Proven ability to drive issues and deliver quality results with a great deal of autonomy.
  • 1-2 years experience as people manager for other QA testers.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead other QA testers, both on-site and in remote locations, managing their day-to-day tasks and productivity.
  • Manage our test plans through our TestRail project and keep it up-to-date.
  • Execute against our TestRail project by following the exact steps of the test plan.
  • Provide detailed reports of any issues encountered, including the exact environment and specific steps to reproduce the observed issue.
  • Use tools and data analysis to determine that our software is working as expected, even non-visual features such as proper telemetry and analytics reporting.
  • Perform ad-hoc front-end testing of SmartCast as real customers would experience our system.
  • Validate the metadata presented in the user experience is accurate and the interaction between SmartCast and partner apps is working as intended.
  • Verify that video playback is successful across the combination of VIZIO devices, partner apps, and different pieces of content.
  • Help troubleshoot issues across all of our environments, production and pre-production.
  • Collaborate with local and remote team members and participate in our Scrum engineering process.
  • Deliver regular QA status reports to executive leadership team.
