About the Role:

If you’re passionate about quality, not just in applications but also in team practices and processes, then you’ve come to the right place. SDETs on our team partner closely with our development team peers to understand the architecture of our product and services. They are capable of understanding the code upon which an application is built, creating a test strategy for new code/features, use appropriate test techniques, and design and execute tests to help ensure high-quality experiences are delivered into production using a risk-based approach. In this role you will partner with developers, artists, UX designers and curriculum designers to create amazing learning experiences for students. The ideal candidate is someone who not only loves all aspects of testing – but knows how to make it actionable; who enjoys identifying roadblocks to efficiencies and replacing them with automation; has a driving curiosity to discover what works and why; and an unrelenting desire to improve results delivered by the team.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Work closely with development team peers to understand the underlying architecture and code changes to create test strategies across different layers of the application.
  • Create and maintain validation environments on AWS in a Mac OS X/Linux environment.
  • Automate the validation of newly integrated features and develop toolsets to augment QA and Development testing.
  • Use exploratory manual testing across different levels and interfaces of an application.
  • Perform continued evaluation of existing test automation for inclusion in regression suites.
  • Communicate status, risks and needs accurately and effectively across teams.
  • Participate in the release of features to our production systems.
  • Monitor the application in production and use basic telemetry to help inform the next iteration of changes to our end user experiences.
  • Firmly and passionately advocate for our customers and for quality across all of our engineering efforts.

About You

  • 3+ years of testing and automation experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with JavaScript required
  • Demonstrated experience testing applications built on TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • You have the ability and willingness to conduct manual exploratory testing on a regular basis.
  • This is a highly collaborative role; must be able and willing to work closely with developers and other quality engineers on design & review of each other’s work.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience testing applications built with a Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Experience with open source automation tools is a plus.
  • Experience testing on multiple device types (iPad, Chromebook, etc.) is a plus.

About Us:

Right now, even though STEM skills are increasingly important, over 60% of students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are not proficient in math or literacy at their own grade-level. The pandemic has increased the opportunity gap for our most vulnerable students. As a society, we need to bring together our best, most creative minds to tackle this critical problem and ensure all kids are successful in math and school and have the tools they need to reach their potential. This includes developing the most innovative learning technology using advanced data science in a way that inspires students and empowers teachers. Come help us make a difference at DreamBox Learning.

We’re passionate about our mission to radically transform the way the world learns. Today, our Intelligent Adaptive Learning platform – with its rigorous curriculum and game-based environment – is helping 5 million kids and over 150,000 educators improve math achievement and build a love of math at the same time. In the wake of COVID-19, and the broad range of learning experiences: in-person, all virtual and hybrid models, we are uniquely positioned to bring our best-in-class adaptive learning platform to more students and provide Educators and Parents with insights into their student’s learning.

We offer a flexible, hybrid work solution once it is safe to go back into the office. We are all 100% remote at this time.
