Job Description

What We Do: The Security Team focuses on securing PayScale’s products and services, supporting our Sales and Customer Support initiatives and completing our annual security audit. The team collaborates with all engineering teams and provides guidance on securing our systems and data.

What You Do: You lead our SOC 2 audit and quarterly evidence gathering activities with all product teams. Completing security questionnaires, and working with the Sales and Renewals teams on customer security questions. Additionally, you will be designing and building our security systems and providing expertise on how to best secure our systems.

Day-in-the-Life: As a Security Engineer, a typical day may include the following…

• Joining in security discussions
• Working with our Sales team on security questions
• Reviewing contract and legal documents as they pertain to security at PayScale
• Partnering with our engineering teams to meet our security needs
• Participate in all security audit activities
• Mentoring peers on best-practices
• Develop contingency plans and manage security breaches.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and security policies.

First Year in Role:

• Month 3: Partnering with your teammates, you have completed a few questionnaires. You will have participated in evidence collection for our audits.
• Month 6: At this point, you have completely ramped up on the team and handle any security issues that arise. You are beginning to develop a plan for security improvements and are able to support our security audit process.
• Month 12: You are fully integrated into the PayScale security organization and you are an authority on security and data management. You are mentoring others, proposing security solutions and offering innovative ways to deliver as a team.

Qualifications

Experience:

• Demonstrated ability in information security, and systems administration.
• You can speak to various security concerns as they relate to our SaaS solutions to developers and managers.
• You can work with a team of people on sophisticated problems which often times require independent research.
• You have excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Attention to detail, answering inquiries fully, and maintaining a comprehensive bank of questions and answers.
• Extensive language skills in responding to RFPs/RFIs and coordination of security activities when dealing with customers.
• Great communication skills especially in translating technical tasks to less technical audiences.

Skills:

• Strong skills in Windows Server, Linux and SIEM.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and cloud native solutions.
• Strong experience with SOC 2 controls.

Tools:

• SIEM, and DLP solutions
• PowerShell, and Python
• Windows operating systems, MacOs, and Linux
• SSHD, HTTPS, SFTP, openssl, and other secure TCP transmission protocols.
