What we do ...

Besides helping people transform data to easy visuals, we also have fun architectural and scaling challenges. Container Services team in Cloud Engineering group drives platform innovation for Tableau SaaS products. We explore new platforms, technologies, tools and bring the best to run Tableau SaaS. We guide the Tableau SaaS transformation to Containers with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS EKS. Along the way, we adopted cool tools for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Continuous Delivery (CD). 

Team you will work in ...

Container Services team is a talented and passionate group of engineers. They are building SaaS platform with AWS EKS infrastructure, and a Deployment platform for release orchestration. The team is in-charge of migrating Tableau Online from AWS EC2 to EKS. As trailblazers of Kubernetes in Tableau, team members regularly guide other internal teams adopting Containers and Kubernetes. As a leader in Container Services team, you will bring your creativity, and expertise to the team for best practice guidance. You will craft the Infrastructure, Deployment, and Migration strategies and oversee their implementation. 

Things you will do 

• Build Platforms to run large-scale SaaS systems on AWS EKS running Docker Containers to handle high traffic, needing high availability, that require global scaling and support. 

• Build service architectures, SOLID designs, and components of large systems 

• Operate and evolve these platforms and architectures with DevOps culture. Continuously improve stability, availability and performance. 

• Lead and participate in SDLC processes in an Agile team and deal with cross-organizational dependencies. 

• Organize and prioritize to help the team stay focused so that they can perform at the best possible level. 

• Get quality software predictably delivered by the team and by individuals. 

• Communicate across teams and engineering groups, navigate difficult conversations, provide feedback (positive and negative) when it’s needed 

• Collaborate with Product Management, drive vague strategic requirements and break them down into iterative deliverables. 

• Grow teams through mentoring and recruiting top talent from your network.

• Engineer-at-heart, skills acquired through years of development experience in an engineering team, understanding modern architecture patterns and engineering practices. It’s preferable if you are an Expert in the infrastructure space, with a strong understanding of AWS EKS or equivalent. 

• Effective Communicator, to teams and leaders. Cross-organizational project experience in a large organization will be critical to be successful in this role. 

• Product owner, knowing how to take high level strategic requirements and break it down into smaller stories that the team can execute against for iterative development and releases. Technically savvy, to help with prioritization of bugs, feature work, and architectural enhancements. 

• Project Manager, with strong Agile practices, along with understanding of more traditional project management concepts to ensure predictability, transparency, and accountability of deliverables.
