DomainTools uses modern technologies to gather, process and analyze large data sets and to build data services that are used by our customers for cybersecurity research and threat intelligence. This is a full-time permanent position in our offices in Seattle (Belltown). At DomainTools, you will work as part of a collaborative team of smart and engaged engineers. DomainTools is going all-in on Cloud Native and we are building a brand new Cloud and DevOps Platform team. This team will be critical to establishing and maintaining sustainable engineering practices as we transition from on-prem data center to public cloud infrastructure through high quality software engineering building out platform tooling, advocacy, and a willingness to teach your peers to fish in the Cloud Native landscape. DomainTools is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Cloud and DevOps Platform team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Early impact on design and implementation of Cloud Native process and platform built around CNCF landscape using modern best practices
  • Identify and prioritize current pain points among stakeholders (development teams and operations) such as deployment, performance, scale and reliability issues
  • Collaborate and drive design, delivery and standardization with partners to create software based solutions to these pain-points
  • Define, implement and drive adoption of Cloud Native best-practices and software solutions
  • Evangelize new solutions and tools and help stakeholders to adopt them
  • Provide technical leadership and act as mentor to various members of the team

Key Applicant Qualifications:

  • 5+ years development experience building resilient platforms and/or SaaS solutions
  • Experience with container and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience running software in public clouds
  • Experience delivering microservice architectures​
  • Excellence in at least one programming language; we use a lot of Python 3 and some golang.
  • Proven ability to interact, evangelize, present and influence at all levels of companies, from executives to engineers
  • History of working effectively in a small team environment; a strong team player and ability to troubleshoot complex problems
  • Prior experience working as a bridge between development team and operations team
  • Positive attitude with strong attention to detail and a desire to produce high-quality results
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with AWS
  • Passion for Cloud Native software and design patterns
  • Believe in and practice DevOps philosophy
  • Excited about security space!

Pluses:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science/related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with HashiCorp software
  • Experience designing, building and/or maintaining CI/CD automation
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies, particularly Terraform
  • Experience writing software for a Linux/Unix environment
  • Experience in designing, building and maintaining large-scale big data infrastructures
  • Experience in Data Pipelines such as Kafka or NATS
  • Experience with serverless technology such as knative or Amazon Lambda
  • Experience with data mining or machine learning techniques
  • Experience with bash
