What is our mission?

Glow’s mission is to help podcast creators thrive by providing them the tools to establish direct relationships with their listeners. We will enable audio creators to become audio entrepreneurs, so they can make a living doing what they love. Our goal is to create a sustainable model for high-quality content.

Podcasting is the fastest growing medium in the world. There are 700,000 podcasts today, as it is easier than ever to create a podcast. 32% of Americans listen to a podcast every month, and active weekly listeners listen to 7 podcasts per week.

Yet many podcasters lack a way to create a direct relationship with their listeners. They want solutions to offer premium content and take data-driven approaches to growing their podcasts. Glow’s first product is the simplest solution for podcasters to allow their listeners to support them. A listener can subscribe to a premium podcast in under 15 seconds, right from the podcast player of their choice. With a direct relationship, podcasters will be able to use Glow’s tools to grow their content, audience, and revenues.

Glow is a spinout of Pioneer Square Labs, a startup studio based in Seattle. With our first product released, we are now looking for customer-focused engineering leaders to take the product to the next level. This is an opportunity to build Glow almost entirely from the ground up and help define and execute the product roadmap. Our product has interfaces for both podcasters and listeners. Over time Glow will build an easy-to-use but comprehensive toolset that fits into the open but fragmented landscape of podcasting technology. The team will create elegant interfaces, imaginative solutions to difficult dev ops problems, integrations with other services, and of course bulletproof infrastructure to give podcasters and their listeners confidence.

You love podcasts. You are excited about helping creators thrive and build a living around their content. You love delivering for customers, with strong customer empathy and a track record of building customer-facing products. You work iteratively, shipping often and measuring results. You enjoy a small team where bureaucracy is low but great communication and collaboration is essential. You don’t get hung up on the boundaries of front-end, back-end, dev ops – you do whatever it takes to deliver. You think in terms of architecture and love to stitch together all elements of the software lifecycle to deliver great software. You thrive in the ambiguity and activity of a startup environment.

Specifically, you have:

• 5-8 years of software engineering experience, including systems design, implementation, and operations
• Experience developing highly intuitive customer experiences
• Experience with operations such as Heroku, AWS, test frameworks, and source code management
• Bonus points for experience with Python, Django, and Stripe integration
