What you'll be doing…
As a member of Tableau’s Map Data & Services team, you will help build and maintain software, infrastructure & systems that process geographic data used by all Tableau products. In this role, you will automate data engineering workflows and create algorithms to conflate and edge match geographic datasets. You will also work closely with other internal feature teams to contribute to a service-based data delivery mechanism. Your work will be highly impactful and will directly affect the ability of our end users to conduct critical analyses. 

Some of the things you'll be doing include…

• Building processes to download, manipulate and store geographic data
• Developing algorithms to clean data, including edge matching adjacent polygon boundaries
• Deploying internal and customer facing services using AWS infrastructure
• Working closely with teammates to design and implement new mapping capabilities for Tableau customers
• Collaborating with other team members to achieve increasingly high standards of engineering and operational excellence

Who you are…

• Experienced. You have professional software development and product development experience. You have strong skills programming in one or more OO languages such as Java or C++. You have experience developing systems to automate data processing workflows and can work with build systems like TeamCity & Gitlab. You have experience using AWS to build product infrastructure, including customer facing and scalable production systems.
• Technical. You’re fluent in commonly used design patterns and can constructively review the work of others to ensure high quality. You are comfortable working with data and can develop efficient storage and processing pipelines. 
• Flexible. You can adapt to changing priorities and help identify high impact opportunities or collaborate with other teams to work on customer facing projects when necessary.
• Passionate. You have a passion for solving complex problems. You do great work even when no one is watching. You have a drive to deliver high quality code and find new ways to add value to the team.
