The Groupon Display Engineering Team develops and manages the Display Advertising Platform in Groupon. The group is responsible for Groupon display ADs on multiple partners like Facebook, Google and other partner like real time AD auction Exchanges etc.

We are looking for talented & passionate backend software engineers who could help help design and implement our ADs related system and platform. You should be able to innovate and automate in the rapidly growing area of big data and analysis. Research & develop ADs management / AD selection / targeting / bidding / reporting / experiment system for multiple partners. Integrate Groupon system with partner platforms.

Our Development Ecosystem and Key Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of industry experience in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C++, Scala, Ruby, Python, etc.
• Practical experience with Object Oriented Programming
• Experience with Distributed data stores/Big data/streaming data process.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, and complexity analysis.
• Ability to drive projects from scoping requirements to actual launch and delivery.
• Experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-performance web services.
• Familiarity with Agile development process
• B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Math or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (Redis, Cassandra etc) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Storm etc)
• Extensive experience with open source technology stacks
• Machine learning experience
• Experiment system experience
• MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

You’ll spend time on the following:

• You will develop compliance applications for the Groupon microservice ecosystem

• You will collaborate with teams in other organizations to ensure that required business features and compliance rules are implemented effectively

• Build service artifacts, plan deployment, coordinate timeline and tasks with project management and teams

• Improve service stability by identifying critical service specific metrics, setting meaningful alerting thresholds, and automating alerting responses

• Create and maintain documentation for your projects

• Mentor junior staff

• Drive the discussion and decisions of technical topics related to the team

We’re excited about you if you have:

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Sciences or related fields with 5+ years in software development

• Solid knowledge with relational databases

• You should have experience developing and supporting web applications and with supporting and troubleshooting internal and external requests / bug report in transactional environment

• Good communication and collaboration skills
