Software Engineer - R&D (contract)

Drift is a Series A funded, energy-tech startup located in Seattle WA, who has raised over 10 million dollars to fund our vision for the future of energy. We believe this future is smarter, more efficient, cheaper, and greener. We’re already delivering some of that vision to our customers, and we’re hiring a contract software engineer to help build the internal infrastructure and proof-of-concepts to make our software platform even smarter.
The Software Engineer will be working closely with the Research & Development (R&D) team at Drift to assist in the development of proof-of-concepts that can be handed over to our Product team for productization. In addition, the engineer will provide data development support to the R&D team (e.g., developing data tools, functions, API connectivity).

This is a 3-month contract-to-hire position with potential to become full-time.
Requirements
- Develop proof-of-concepts in code and specifications that can be handed over to our Product team(s)
- Create data tools for analytics that assist R&D in building and optimizing new research
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet technological and business requirements
Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field is a plus.
- The Software Engineer should also have experience using the following tools:
- Proficiency with Python programming language
- Proficiency with SQL
- Experience or proven ability to learn with cloud services: AWS EC2, AWS Aurora, Docker
- Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
